We have had some news from Eliot recently, so he was encouraged to tell us how his life has been since he was here with us working as an assistant. This is what he wanted to share in his email:
Hi Everyone,
I’m Eliot. I
was the English Language Assistant at La Arboleda for 2018 to 2019. I
came to live in El Puerto de Santa María for the third year of my
University course so that I could help students with their English
and practice my Spanish. This is me just after I arrived:
I had so much fun! I really enjoyed experiencing Spanish Culture and
travelling around to see all the beautiful sights of Andalucía. I
love food and I still think about all the delicious things I ate in
El Puerto. Here’s a picture of me enjoying Lunch with some of the
other teachers:
After my year in El Puerto I went back to The University of Sheffield to finish my course and take my exams. It was hard to get used to the colder weather! However, it was nice to see family and friends that I hadn’t seen all year.
Because of Coronavirus, I didn’t have an official Graduation until 2 years after I finished my exams! I returned to Sheffield last month and wore the traditional hat and robes to the Ceremony:
When I graduated, I moved to London and started working at a Publishing House. We publish schoolbooks and my experiences from La Arboleda have been really useful in my new job. I’m lucky because I get to travel for work. This is something I find especially exciting. Here I am in Trinidad and Tobago recently:
El Puerto will always hold a place in my heart, so hopefully I will get a chance to visit again soon.
Eliot
